How to Win a Boat Race Drinking Games

By Fernando Meyer | Thursday 2:55 pm

Boat Race Drinking Games

Even though boat race drinking games are most often associated with college dorm rooms, they are fun for people of all ages and levels of maturity. It’s a race to see who can drink the most beer. The goal of the boat race drinking games is to see which team can finish their drinks first.

How to Play Boat Race Drinking Games

The first step to playing boat race drinking games is to split into two equal groups. Guys vs. Girls is a common matchup or a team captain from each side is chosen to draft a team. Once both teams are set, each player must fill a cup. Every player has to drink the same thing in the same amount. Usually, people drink a pint of beer, but some groups prefer strawpedo bottles of alcopop instead.

Teams should line up along the length of a table on opposite sides. So each player has a rival on the other side. The cups are then set down in front of them. Each team chooses a leader to start the game, and at the end of the line, an anchor is chosen to finish the game.

Someone has to say “Go!” and then the first player has to race to drink his or her drink. Once they’re done, they have to put the drink upside down on their head to make sure they’re done.

Then the next person can start to drink. The boat race drinking games winner is the first group to finish all of their drinks.

Rules

No matter how seriously you play, you will make mistakes. Here are some rules you can enforce:

  1. If a player can’t keep the cup on their head, they lose. The other players on that player’s team can’t drink until the cup is back on the player’s head.
  2. If you spill beer, you have to stop drinking for five seconds.
  3. If a player spills beer on his or her head after drinking. You can punish them by making them drink another cup of beer, or you can stop that team from drinking for 10 seconds.
  4. Having people ready to fill in for you can be helpful!

The Boat Race drinking game is mostly just a contest to see who can drink the most beer. It has been a popular way for frats to see who has the strongest liver for many years. People often drink too much when they play games like this, so please drink responsibly and only try a game like this if you’re sure you can handle it.
