Christmas is a time in which you will want to be having parties, send cards, and exchange gifts. This time of year can be a very expensive one, so here is how you can try not to rack up the debt and still have a fun, festive party.
If you are organizing a christmas party, then you will have to shell out for the invitations, food, drink, decorations, and anything else that you can think of. If you are thinking of having a theme at your party, then you should start to prepare this as early as possible – this way, there is no panic last minute buying.
Decorations
If you are looking at decorations for your christmas party, you don’t have to spend a fortune on expensive ready-made ones. Perhaps buy some cheaper plain ones and ‘jazz’ them up yourself. Adding personal touches makes the party more intimate, too, and guests will probably notice that you have put in the effort.
Invitations
This can be the same for the invitations; you don’t have to buy some from the shops. You can just buy some colored cards and create your own. Most people have access to a printer and a computer, so why not make them funny and add some personal images and wording to the invitations? This way, people will not forget your party.
If you are looking at buying your invitations, then buying them at a time during the year when they are cheaper will help with the finances of the party. Saving money on the décor and invitations will allow you to get more food and drink.
Food and Drink
When it comes to food and drink, there is an easy option to save money, and that is for guests to ‘bring a bottle. As long as you supply some, then I am sure your guests won’t mind bringing some too. This way, they also know that you have something that they will like as different people prefer different drinks, and catering for all is not easy.
This can be said with the food too. With it being Christmas, then there are calls for turkey, but do you offer this to your guests?
I would possibly say no. Offering turkey throughout the festive period at parties may put people off by the time they come to sit down and eat their Christmas dinner. With regards to food at a party, depending on the occasion, it would just be a finger buffet, so things like chicken legs, party sausages, cheese on a stick and nibbles, etc.
Relax
With the party sorted and no worries about your bank balance or the debt collectors hunting you down, you can enjoy the party with all your guests. Things may not always run smoothly, but at least you should be prepared for every eventuality.
Lastly, using paper plates and dishes offers you the chance to relax after the party as they just go in the bin at the end. Then the rest of the tidying up can wait until tomorrow.
