Custom baby gates for stairs, is it worth it? Do you have one?
I can’t even count how many times I knocked over, fell through, and missed the latch on the baby gates we used with our daughter. You know, those standard metal and plastic things you buy at Etsy or Amazon. There was never a good way to drill it into the railing or the stairs, so it got dislodged from the wall pretty often.
Luckily it did its job keeping our daughter safe, but I hear boys are a bit more, shall we say, feisty? I’m worried about them holding up for another round of baby-proofing.
Now that we’re moving, I wonder if it makes sense to build a baby gate on stairs, permanently mount it, and never have to worry about getting my shins all banged up again. Or worry about the kids falling down the stairs. Duh.
