The requirements for getting a Bank of America credit card as a foreigner vary greatly from one card to the next. First, You have to go to a Bank of America financial center to open an account. Once a Bank of America credit card for foreigners is set up, you’ll be able to use helpful tools like the Mobile Banking app, debit card, and digital wallets.

To get a credit card from Bank of America, you must live in the U.S. and be at least 18 years old. Some Bank of America credit card offers are only available to people who don’t live in the U.S. through a local Bank of America financial center.

You also have to agree to let Bank of America check your credit report and work history. Other requirements include a completed application with all the personal and financial information asked for, such as your name, address, date of birth, annual income, and sources of that income.

If you are under 21, the CARD Act says that you must be able to show proof that you have a way to pay your bills on your own. You will also be asked how much you pay each month to rent or buy a home.

Here are the rules for getting a credit card from Bank of America:

Age

Applicants have to be 18 or older. The CARD Act says that people who want to get a credit card and are younger than 21 must be able to show that they have an independent source of income that is enough to pay for the card. You can become an authorized user on someone else’s Bank of America credit card account if you are younger than 18.

United States Residence

Non-resident aliens can fill out an application at a Bank of America branch or by calling (800) 932-2775.

SSN/ITIN

People who want to apply online need a Social Security Number. If you have an ITIN, you have to go to a Bank of America financial center to apply. You can also make an appointment ahead of time to see a specialist.

Personal and Financial Information

Applicants have to give their name, address, phone number, email address, citizenship status, country of residence, and date of birth. Bank of America also wants to know about your finances, such as if you have a job, how much money you make each year, where that money comes from, and how much rent you pay each month.

You will need two forms of identification (Primary ID). Only one of the following documents is needed when applying Bank Of America credit card for foreigners.

  • Foreign passport with or without passport visa (with photo)
  • U.S. Non-Immigrant visa and Border Crossing Card-DSP-150 (with photo)
  • Mexican, Guatemalan, Dominican, Colombian Consular ID (with photo)
  • Canadian Citizenship Certificate Card (with photo)

Requirements for Credit

Each Bank of America credit card for foreigner has its own requirements for creditworthiness on top of the general requirements. Bank of America has credit cards for most credit score ranges, which is good news.

When you apply, fill out each required field with full and correct information. Fraud is the illegal act of putting false or misleading information on a credit card application on purpose. There will also be certain credit score needs for Bank of America credit cards.
